Hollywood themed 11th birthday party

I blogged earlier in the year about my son's jungle birthday party, so I thought my daughter's recent 11th party might be of interest too!

As as we love Wonder Bears, my children do like a change occasionally, and I love the challenge of planning something a bit different.

The invitations were VIP passes, laminated and threaded onto ribbon with the instruction of a glamorous dress code. The girls all wore them when they arrived, and the passes were checked by the bouncer on the door.

I bought a 'red carpet', Hollywood wall banners, dangling decorations and table confetti all from ebay for around £20.

We interviewed the girls as they arrived and walked up the red carpet!

In true Hollywood style they had a 3 course meal, before retiring to have fun with a karaoke DVD.

The girls then had a sleepover, one or two wonder bears made an appearance too!

Hope you enjoyed reading about the party!

Where's Wanda?

Wanda the Wonder Bunny at Blackpool Tower

Wanda was sent on her travels with instructions to look after her, pass her on to a new family and send in a picture to wonder bears HQ. We were delighted with the first two photos!

Wanda enjoying some crisps waiting to watch King Lear performed at Rendlesham Forest.

Wanda was passed on to a new family at Birmingham services...we hope they get in touch soon and let us know where Wanda has been wandering!

Will Wanda get in touch? Watch this space (keeping everything crossed!).

Thanks to the Boast family for the lovely photos!

Jungle Party

Despite organising wonder bear parties, I still love organising my own children's parties. this year I decided to give my son a break from Wonder Bears and he had a jungle themed party in the garden.

He made lots of signs and helped prepare some of the games. Here is Henry just before his friends arrived wearing his hat ready for a jungle safari!

We ordered jungle party plates, napkins and party bag things from Amazon, but made lots of the games and signs ourselves. Below you can see is 'fishing' for jungle money using a chopstick, a piece of string and a magnet. The jungle tokens all had a paperclip attached.

The snakes were hidden around the garden and were quite difficult to find. Other games included obstacle course, colouring jungle pictures and pin the tail on the monkey. All prizes were 'jungle coins' which could be exchanged at the jungle cafe for sweets ready to take home in the party bags.

The Jungle tuck shop also served 'jungle juice' to thirsty jungle adventurers.

Now, I am well known for my kitchen disasters, but thought I would attempt a jungle cake this year. Ok, it it a bit of a wonky 6, but was quite yummy and had lots of chocolate buttons round the side to cover the really dodgy bits!

If Henry and his friends didn't already have an abundance of Wonder Bears they could have had monkeys, tigers or lions as part of their jungle adventure, from www.wonderbears.co.uk

All in all a rather fun party! Hope it has given you some ideas....

There's no such thing as a ....

Wonder Bear took a stroll through the deep dark wood.
A fox saw the bear and the bear looked good.
"Where are you going to, you fluffy bear?
Come and have lunch in my underground lair"
"It's terribly kind of you Fox, but no -
I'm going to have lunch with a Gruffalo."

Away Fox ran, didn't he know?
There's no such thing as a ....

Hopefully no Gruffalos around, but when the rain stops, why not plan a Wonder Bear picnic?

Wonder Bear is at Baylham Farm

Today Wonder Bear is at Baylham Rare Breeds farm in Suffolk. This blog is being typed up by Florence aged 10. Florence's mum is the Wonder Bear lady( she looks after Wonder Bear!!) When we arrived it started to hail!! Wonder Bear got very wet! We sheltered in one of the pigs feeding area. We sheltered under there for about fifteen minutes and all of us got soaked! When the hail had stopped we went and queued up for the lambs to be put on our laps! We waited for about 5 minutes. Florence, Henry and our friend Finn got to hold the lambs, Wonder Bear just sat there and watched patiently.

Henry got the big lamb, Florence got the baby lamb and Finn got a big lamb!! After that we walked to the goats feeding area and we fed them.
We could all see that the goats were very hungry! After that we headed for the big field. There were all sorts of animals. I got a photo with a very funny looking one!!

These cute piglets were born last Friday, so they are only 5 days old. My mum has just ordered some Wonder Bear pigs to make, they are very cute too!

Thank you Florence for telling us about Wonder Bear at Baylham today. If you have visited somewhere interesting with your Wonder Bear please let us know, maybe we could feature your writing on this blog! All contact details are on the website....

Easter bunnies!

Well it has been a busy few months at Wonder Bears. We held our second workshop at The Tea Hut in Woodbridge, and it was very busy indeed with lots of Easter bunny presents being made, chocolate brownies consumed, and in between colouring, face painting and an Easter trail!

Also, we had a huge response to our ad in raring2go, with party bookings coming in still - some in July, September and October!

New in stock are Penny Penguins, and coming soon are Sooty, Sweep and Soo...now who is old enough to remember them...?!

Congratulations Lenny and Poppy!

Poppy waits nervously for her handsome groom.

Lenny is looking very smart, a change from his usual biker leathers. Poppy chuckles to herself, he'll have to change a lot more now they're getting married.

You may kiss the bride!
'Now I know how Kate Middleton felt' sighs Poppy happily.

 The happy couple

"Ouch my back."

"Are you saying I'm fat Lenny?!"

"Don't be daft, you're beautiful."

2012 is here!

Happy New Year!

I love children's parties. Really I do, well I would have to mad to set up a party business if I didn't like them!

Things that always make me smile are how children mix up the cakes and sandwiches on their plate and eat them in any order. The singing of 'Happy Birthday' is always a lovely moment, blowing out candles is amazing. Wonder Bears have a satin hear to put in before they are sealed up, I love how the younger children close their eyes and make their wish with everyone quietly waiting...and waiting... sometimes the wishes are very, very long!

Yesterday I hosted a lovely party at The Tea Hut in Woodbridge. The mum of the birthday girl said how she certainly wouldn't want a party at home, so it was an ideal option for her. However, Wonder Bear parties cause very little mess (the fluff just hoovers up!) and in the Summer a lovely teddy bears picnic can be held in the garden or even the park.

Being an independent business I am always happy to discuss various options for parties, the more creative the better. The important things are that the birthday child has the best time ever, and the birthday parents have the least stress possible!

Thank you to everyone who has booked a Wonder Bear party over the last year, whether just the kits or the hosted versions. I look forward to lots of children's birthdays in 2012!
